In Vikings society there were no actual schools. Education was given at home and taught by parent/s, or if the family was particularly wealthy they would send them to the home of a "rich man" or a private tutor. Also, their education was based more around work at home and practical applications. For example, both boys and girls were taught to sing, recite sagas and poetry, light a fire, light an oil lamp, how to ride a horse and how to use a boat. Also, boys were taught how to make goods of timber and metal and girls were taught how to cook, spin wool and weave.
